2026 couch to peaks transformation
From Couch Potato to Peakbagger — My 2026 Hiking Reset
Couch to Peaks 2026 is my year-long hiking reset designed to rebuild endurance, discipline, and confidence through twelve progressively more demanding hikes. Starting from shorter local trails and gradually increasing mileage and elevation gain, this series documents the physical and mental process of returning to strength — one mountain at a time.
In this collection, you’ll find:
-
Detailed hiking guides for each of the 12 hikes
-
Elevation gain, distance, and trail conditions
-
Seasonal hiking tips and gear adjustments
-
Training lessons learned along the way
-
Trail reflections on resilience, discomfort, and growth
Whether you’re starting from a sedentary season or looking to increase your hiking endurance safely, these posts follow a realistic progression — from beginner-friendly hikes to more challenging peaks.
If you’re new to the journey, start with the first hike and follow the progression as it unfolds throughout 2026.
Keep in mind that you don’t need to hike the exact trails I do. Use the progression as a template and choose hikes closer to home that match the same distance and elevation benchmarks. The goal isn’t location — it’s gradual, sustainable progression.
